Voting the Bible? Are you SURE??

An Angel Met Balaam with a Sword (illustration...

“Voting the Bible” tomorrow?  Which one?–the one you think you know, because you’ve overheard a few things, or the actual words-on-paper Bible that IS?  Are you voting the whole Bible or just a few select parts you happen to like?  Because very many, if not most people, do not really know much about the Bible.  For example:  “God helps those who help themselves” is NOT in the Bible!  What IS in there is a direct quote from God telling us that His thoughts are far above our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways, so much so that He considers our thoughts and ways downright foolish.  So if you think you know what God would do at the voting booth, you’d better go look it up because He’s already told us we’re probably wrong.  Jesus did not come to make things all nicey-nice.  He came to carry out God’s sovereign Plan, which was established before human kind or Earth came into existence, and is planned a certain way for a good reason.  To accomplish a particular goal.  Thus, you need to look at the entirety of the Bible to get a sense of where we’re headed–and what it will take to get us from here to there I’m willing to bet my bottom dollar you’ll be shocked at what you find.  If you’re not voting in alignment with God’s actual Plan, you’re working against Him.  In my experience, that is NOT wise.

As today’s entry from Oswald Chambers says, “It is [supposed to be] part of Christian culture to know what God’s aim is.  [Unfortunately,] in the history of the Christian Church [man’s] tendency has been to…procure the carrying out of God’s order by a short cut of their own….Are we prepared for God to stamp our personal ambitions right out?  Are we prepared for God to destroy by transfiguration our individual determinations?” (clarifications my own)

If you claim to truly submit to God, then make sure you do so–whether or not you happen to understand or like His methods.  Nothing new is born without pushing through a brief time of pain and struggle.

How has this impacted your thinking on the matter?
